Ticket Division gets certified by Cayan®

After a battery of security and functionality tests, Ticket Division received its certification from Cayan® Payment Solutions for its compliance with EMV regulations, and the integration of the Genius® Customer Engagement Platform.

Quick reminder: what is EMV compliance?

EMV is a payment method based upon a technical standard for smart payment cards and for payment terminals. EMV cards are "smart" cards and are often identified by their microchip, and referred to as chip cards (or IC cards). There are two major benefits to moving to smart-card-based credit card payment systems: improved security, and the possibility for finer control of "offline" credit-card transaction approvals. EMV chip card transactions improve security against fraud compared to magnetic stripe card transactions that rely on the holder's signature and visual inspection of the card to check for features such as hologram.

The increased protection from fraud has allowed banks and credit card issuers to push through a "liability shift", such that merchants are now liable (since October 1, 2015) for any fraud that results from transactions on systems that are not EMV-capable. In other words, businesses are held automatically responsible for any fraudulent charges made by someone using a chip card if the system used to capture the payment was not EMV compliant. This is why EMV compliance was not only a feature, but a requirement for Ticket Division Box Office.

A major player in the payment industry

Ticket Division decided to partner with an industry leader in Cayan®, not only because the payment solution provider processed over twenty billion U.S. dollars last year, but also because Cayan® is one of the most innovative companies on the market. Cayan® is a multiple award winner, including the Best Digital Innovation from a Large Enterprise Award from MITX.

This translates into practical functionalities that Ticket Division capitalized on: contactless payments to accept Apple Pay®, Android Pay® and Samsung Pay®, fast processing and payment response to handle large crowds and high volume, Android and iOS integration, state-of-the-art payment terminals and more...

Cayan® certification and security tests

The path to get certified includes a battery of tests to ensure the compliance to EMV rules and regulations, the security and integrity of the platform, and a smooth user experience. Transactions are keyed, swiped, chip-inserted, voided, refunded, tested when the connection to the gateway is lost, when ticket buyers remove their card too early, etc. No stone is left unturned to ensure perfect compliance to EMV rules and Cayan®'s requirements for a smooth user experience.

The certification was not only a requirement that had to be met, it is also a code of good practice that follows the development and improvement of Ticket Division platforms.
